Hello,

I've just installed the latest version of the snitz forum (v 3.3.03)

I have followed the readme.txt instructions included and when running the setup.asp it says it is sucessfull!

However: When Running the default.asp I get this error displayed on part of the forum...

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Operation must use an updateable query.

/Forum/inc_functions.asp, line 717

This would suggest a error the the SQL code. So is there a fix for this?

Thxs
Myles

PS: If there is a solution to this can you send a e-mail response to (netoptions4u@btinternet.com) Many Thxs.

It's not an error in the SQL Code.

see here: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16559

also, if you do a search on this forum for Operation must use an updateable query , you'll find many, many topics on that error.

Richard,

Bang on man...

Brinkster has sorted out my database folder permissions and the forum works very well indeed!

I was wondering how I stand on "redistribution" of this forum?

Is it ok for me to offer it FREE as part of my web solutions? (Keeping your "Powered by" stuff, of course)

Thxs
Myles

I believe it's okay if you are willing to keep the Powered by Snitz Logo there. :)

It's good to do the Impossible, But it's no longer call the impossible when it's doable.

Yep...

Of course. (It's part of the agreement anyway i think?)

Thxs alot. I will start developing a duplication/setup script for the forum.

It should prove an attractive feature. Epecialy with it being free!

I thought I finally got things going when I was told I completed setup, but then I go to change my admin password I get this:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.

/randomnonsense/inc_functions.asp, line 717

So what must I do here? Bear in mind I know nothing of coding, so en explanation in laymens terms might be nessessary.

This means that your database and the folder containing the database must have read/write permissions.
Contact your host about it and let them give you the needed permissions. Also read Richards post above for it.

I put all the my .asp files in my root folder. I am currently running my server with Verio as a "shared host plan". I called their tech support, and he can't seem to help me out. Do I set "read/write" permission on my root? Because my DB holding my .mdb is already set on "read/write". Hope I made sense!
