I'm using Snitz Forum Version 3.0 RC 1 with an Access 2000 database. I'm currently hosting the application at readyhosting.com. My forum URL is http://tribforcehq.com/forum/.

I've been plagued with "Too many client tasks" errors! Some of my ASP/db scripts work but other, like the Snitz forum, do not. They return the error message.

HELP! I've been working through this with my provider for three days now. They say it someone's bad ASP code on the server. They tried to say it was mine, but I'm only doing simple db lookups with ADODB.RecordSet.

Anyone have any clues as to what to look for? I love this forum application. It's the best I've seen. I don't think the problem is with the forum code, but with the server.

Just looking for some clues. Anyone else seen this behavior?

It would appear that your forum canot find the database.

if you do forum/setup.asp, it says you do not have a DB setup.

Yeah. That just started happening. I think my hosting provider is doing something on the server. I'll post back as soon as that's resolved.

Thanks for the quick response.

Apparently, my hosting provider kills the web server which kills the connections. Everything works fine for a few hours then bam the error occurs again.

I think it's being caused by another user's bad ASP code on the same server I'm on.

Just curious as to what type code could cause the ODBC drive to say "too many client tasks". This is a new one for me.

Thanks for you help.

It could be caused by database connections being opened and then not closed. They stay open until there are too many connections to the database.

Good news is my hosting provider is suppose to have SQL 2000 services this month, so I can get rid of the Access databases! I hate JET!!

Thanks again.

One thing that could cause the "too many clients ..." error is a pre-3.0 Jet engine on the server (i.e., ancient).

<font face='Verdana'>I just recently signed up with Readyhosting and have been hitting the "too many clients" error, which can be very annoying. While it may be the fault of someone else's bad code not closing out database connections, I find it hard to believe the host couldn't do some tweaking to help insure this rarely happens.
Regardless, now that they offer SQL2000 I would like to try using that option instead. Can the Access database be converted somehow or is there an SQL version of the forums database that can be downloaded?
Any help would be appreciated. This is a kick ass message board system!

I use readyhosting too. They haven't gotten me setup on SQL 2000 yet and I requested it last MONTH!

Anyway, request to be moved to the server reserved for customers who are having the "too many client tasks error". Since moving me over, I haven't received it once yet. Apparantly, the DSN setup script they have is screwing something up on the servers, so they have a server set apart now for those having the problems.

I hope this saves you many hours of frustration as I had to go through. My satisfaction with readyhosting is less than happy, but for $99 per year, what should I expect.

I've been having the same problems too. Just had my first errors today. We have been running the forums software for a few weeks with no problems.
I emailed Readyhosting with the problem and also requested a SQL Server db. Hopefully they'll comply fast.

Thanks to everyone who posted about this issue!
