Rick it is not actually 10 stars. What I described above will look and act exactly how aspin.com does it.

It would be wonderful if this mod can be modified such that there is an option to turn ratings on or off by the forum or category of forum. Can this be done? cheers

this mod is not working for me

I downloaded the one rick posted on a asp script site with the rating star graphics but its not working for me

when I click on a topic from the forum page am getting this error message

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'rsTopic'

/forum/topic111.asp, line 460

also im not testing it on our regular topic.asp file because lots of users are currently logged on thats why its on topic111.asp but its currently on my regular forum.asp file but it the buttom shows weird

go to

http://rapflava.com/forum/FORUM.asp?FORUM_ID=2&CAT_ID=5&Forum_Title=Creativity+on+the+Open+Mic

see all the way down at the end of the table where I have the sorting mod on the last post colum at the end why is it showing all black?
also when a topic is not yet voted on is it suppose to show like that? thought it suppose to say "not rated" or something

but how can i fix that topic.asp problem and that big black area on the forum.asp at the end of the table?

That's the problem! Notice in the Topic.asp file you see these:
Remove the Red

<% ' ################# TOPIC RATING MOD ###################### ' %>

<% if ( getMemberID(strDBNTUserName) <> rsTopic("T_AUTHOR") ) then %>
<% if strDBNTUserName <> "" Then
iTopicRating = GetTopicRating( getMemberID(strDBNTUserName), rsTopic("TOPIC_ID") )
if iTopicRating <> -1 Then %>
<table border="0" width="96%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center">
<tr>
<td bgColor="<% =strPageBGColor %>" align=left <%= strColspan %>>
<font face="<% =strDefaultFontFace %>" size="<% =strFooterFontSize %>"><small>You Rated this Topic:<img src="<%=strImageUrl %><%=GetTopicRatingPicture( iTopicRating )%>"></small></font>
</td>
</tr>
<table>
<% else %>

<form action="pop_topic_rating.asp?mode=goRate&id=<%=rsTopic("TOPIC_ID")%>" method="Post" id=Form1 name=Form1>
<SELECT NAME="rating">
<OPTION value=''>Rate Topic
<OPTION value='5'>5: Highest Rating
<OPTION value='4'>4
<OPTION value='3'>3
<OPTION value='2'>2
<OPTION value='1'>1: Lowest Rating
</SELECT> <INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" NAME="Submit" VALUE="Rate">
</form>
<%end if%>
<% end if%>
<% else %>
<table border="0" width="96%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center">
<tr>
<td bgColor="<% =strPageBGColor %>" align=left <%= strColspan %>>
<font face="<% =strDefaultFontFace %>" size="<% =strFooterFontSize %>"><small>You Cannot Rate your own Topic: </small></font>
</td>
</tr>
<table>
<% end if %>

<% ' ################# END TOPIC RATING MOD ###################### ' %>

And if your not using Huw's Modded Code you will need to remove these too:

<%=strImageUrl %>

Let me see your topic.asp.. show it as a .txt file here.

It's been so long since I've done 3.1 but the only difference will be the Topic.asp file. The rest will work fine.
