I have a friend who sells PHP scripst (php-scripting.com) - A customer bought a script, but then got there money back telling there credit card company they never heard of it, yet it is still on there site.
How would one go about finding out who the owner of an IP address is?
If it's a person's IP then you can take it an resolve the DNS for it. That may or may not help, if it isn't proxied then you'll probably be able to locate the ISP. From that point on, it's pretty dead, that is unless legal actions are involved, then the police and look it up thru the ISP. I've only ever looked up the DNS and handed 'trouble-makers' with the name of their ISP in order to deter them from further trouble. In most cases it's worked too. :)
