In order to test it (that's why it's here... ), do the following :
1)Make sure it is the v40b01 installed.
2)At the End of the config.asp file :
Find :
DIM arrLang (2,3)

Very nice that you share your work with us  .
Actually this file was for v40b01. This version did not include all the strings and code changes needed for the whole software. The v40b02 will include around 1950 strings/phrases and all current fixes to the code. It will be released after v33_03. I don't advice production sites using this beta.
It will ease your task of translation as there are not too much changes in the current strings in the LangXXXX.asp file. Translation and testing takes time. This was why v40b01 is published. Just for familarization of the concepts and starting the translations.
One other thing is: Yes it's possible to support more than two languages but then there will be 3 includes in config.asp, thus it may degrade you system performance. Each (final) language file will about 175KB. Don't try to put every language you find if you don't need it desperately .

Yep but as soon as I got the v40b02, I'll merge the files to keep translating into a final version of the FR string file.
This one is only for beta test purpose, and for people to tell me if there are mistakes in the strings...

Well there are some differences (but they're small)
But I believe the only way you could use different language files for states is using the large Language Code like for France : FR-FR (I don't know for Canada), American English : EN-US, ...etc...

Effectivement, à plusieurs nous pourrons aller plus vite.
Si vous voulez m'aider, ce serait sympathique de lire les chaînes traduites du fichier posté ici (un petit millier) et de poster ici les erreurs ou les améliorations suggérées. Pendant ce temps je m'attaquerai aux chaînes manquantes sur le nouveau fichier et (maintenant que je sais que je ne suis plus seul) je posterai les doutes que j'aurai, ici.
Au fait, je ne pense pas que les chaînes traduites soient très bien choisies pour certaines, mais lorsqu'on est dans un millier de chaînes, c'est difficile d'être précis, donc il faut vraiment corriger le fichier (à moins que vous ne trouviez cela correct... mais j'en doute pour certaines phrases)
PS : Pour les autres personnes qui voudraient aider, elles sont les bienvenues pour critiquer le fichier
By the way, I don't think the strings of the file are well chosen for sure, they need some fix-up. So it really needs some corrections.
PS : For other people who want to give their help, please read the file and report any mistake/error of translation.

The correct string in Lang1033.asp must be:
strLangAdmin_Compactdb00030 = "*Compact Database" '"Compact Database"
Corrected in the code and posted as a bug+fix.

There is "&nonbreakingspace;" between "compact" and "database" (its short form that I cannot repeat here, I have to add this because the forum code auto-converts it).
