ok .. so i downloaded the download .. but I got a file called download.asp.

I dont know what to do with it ... this stuff scares me ... I need a simple messageboard for a site I am doing ... but I dont know how to begin.

yep, download.asp is the link you clicked on. that should have let you download a file called Snitz_Forums_2000_V3_1_SR4.zip

Now, you'll open that and extract all the files. Within that, there's another .zip file called "tools" which contains your database for the forum.

Actually, if you want, I can install it for you. I really don't mind doing it. Just email me with your information. Where are you installing it at? You have your own domain or what?

wow .. I heard this place was friendly ...

thanks! we dont have a host server in place just yet .. so installation will be moot. I may get back to you on that tho....and with tremendous appreciation too.

What I was hoping to do is mofify, or learn to modify, the look of the thing. I have no idea how these things are done

also wondering .. does a forum like this require a login etc.? e I am just looking for a very simple messageboard where folks can discuss stuff, but there will be only one forum and I want it open to anyone

Is this the right board for my needs?

Yep, this one will work. they'll just have to sign up to get a user name...just like you did to be able to post on these forums
