I first got the following error a couple of weeks ago when I installed a mod that required a database update:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Could not update; currently locked by user 'Admin' on machine 'CHEETAH'.
It disappeared after a few hours (the mod was installed successfully). Over the last few days, it's been coming back more and more. Right now it's about a 50/50 chance if I'll get it.
I was told this error means the db is open. I'm not sure what happened, but how can I close it?
I'm just so frustrated. When I go into the directory where the db resides I sometimes see a file with a .ldb extension - I delete it only to have it come back. Other times when I get the error, there is no such file.
I would greatly appreciate any help or advice. I honestly don't know much about db's and I'm at the end of my rope.
Could this have anything to do with permissions set by my server? I've emailed them for help but haven't received a reply yet.
Thank you!

Okay...no one seems to have any advice. How about this - got any advice on someone I could pay to help me? My board was down a good portion of yesterday, now it's back up. I have to deal with this somehow.
Any recommendations?
I'm just about ready to pull the plug on the whole thing

Seems like someone has it open in MS Access itself. That's the only time I've ever seen that error message.

The .ldb file is a temporary file which access creates whenever the database is being accessed. Don't delete it, because access will delete it as it goes. No need for maintenance from you....

It very well could. Make sure they have the latest version of MDAC installed, and that the directory and the database have read/write access for IUSR_<machinename>

Thanks for your help Dave - it's appreciated.
It's died down a bit, but I'm still getting the error every now and again. Do you think running setup.asp again will hurt, help or have no effect? I'm almost afraid to run it because it seems like when I do anything with the db the problems start again.
Cheers.
