My forum was working in win98.. now I have installed win2k and I get the following message

I changed my string from, 'strConnString = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\forum\tools\snitz_forums_2000.mdb" '## MS Access 97

to

strConnString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\forum\tools\snitz_forums_2000.mdb" '## MS Access 2000

I am using Dreamweaver UD. I have my asp pointing to my inetpub\myweb not to my inetpub\forum or inetpub\forum\tools I tried these and they did not work... any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts
Michael

No I am having a full conversation with myself... Just wanted to post a follow up not to waste anyones time... I am no longer getting the error 500 message. Now I when I preview the page in Dreamweaver or IE I get the code on the screen not the html. All my regular pages work.. it is just my asp stuff.

This may sound like a silly idea, don't want to offend you, but are you sure you have the server running??

What version of win2k are you running? Personnal or Server??

No question is silly at this point :) I have win 2k Pro running with pws. All my htm and html paes work fine. None of my asp pages work in any websites. I have a bunch that I am working on... some with dsn some without. None work at this point.
Michael
I just ran a check on my events log and got the following message

The server failed to load application '/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT'. The error was 'The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect. Check the username and password.
'.

I went to the microsoft site and searched this error message and got zip
thanks
Michael

OK, I found this in the knowledge Base @ Microsoft.

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q276/4/07.ASP?LN=EN-GB&SD=gn&FR=0

Which goes on a bit about MTS and COM+ and how the Configured Identity must have certain user rights and permissions to run

I search on the Error codes :

8000401a
-2147467238

Dont know if this will help ya

I hope when you said PWS you meant IIS5 which you install from the W2K cd. If you installed some other PWS you should uninstall it, and then as admin install IIS5 from the Add-Remove Programs, Windows Components.

I had the same EXACT problem, make sure you give the IUSR_machine_name full rights to the database. Trust me on this, IIS4 is NOT like IIS5. Feel free to contact me, this problem kicked my butt for awhile and that solved my problem.

It was so weird when the page would work and then stop working, this is your problem, I am 99% sure of it.

I run a test web here on W2K without having to do anything special. I just created a new web using FP, dragged the files from a Snitz unzip into a folder in the web, put the database in a folder, and used windows explorer to give the IUSR_computername user read/write access to the database. Came right up with no problems.

Make sure you are admin when you install IIS.

I guess I should have mentioned that this was a bug I was experiencing intermittently on Win2K Pro, when I did it with Win2K Advanced I did not incur the same anomoly.
