I am using a (very) heavily modded version of Snitz 3.4.03.

I would like to approve registrations as a way to cut down on spam accounts.

Can I do this without adding additional code?

Thanks!

Huw is correct....

It doesn't hurt to have Require Unique E-mail and Require Logon for sending mail on either...

Worked for me for many years :)

Turning email validation off won't affect moderating new registrations, that is controlled by 'Restrict Registration:' which should be turned on, email validation should be left on.

Turn EMail validation off.
