What is it that causes a page to go back to a previous page when for instance you make a post and then the confirmation page shows which should then automatically refresh back to the page you were on before making the post - if that makes sense

And if it works on one browser but not another is it a coding issue or a browser setting? Both IE by the way but different machines

Yeap, setting in Internet Explorer - Tools>Internet Options >Security> Custom Level

then enable 'Allow META REFRESH'

could be settings in the server version are more tight perhaps but wouldn't have thought that would affect the return after a post. you could try using F12 and then check the network trace to see what is happening, it may also highlight any javascript issues that may be hiding but causing a problem

Both are IE 11 but the one that works is ion my desktop, the one that doesn't is on a Windows 2012 server - it's just that I'm testing the site prior to pressing the big green button and needed to know

it is usually done with a redirect, it could be either code or browser Are both IE versions the same?
