Posted - 05 November 2013 : 14:41:24 Do you guys know a means of downloading "large" videos from YouTube that's FREE or really inexpensive?
I get so frustrated when I add a link to a YouTube video and only a short time later the link won't work because the account of the person who uploaded the video to YouTube has been closed, etc.! Arrgh!
I am considering downloading the video to my hard drive and then uploading it to my own YouTube account to prevent the above.

Posted - 08 November 2013 : 07:51:21 I currently use Youtube Downloader: http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/ I can't give any raving recommendations for it. I just downloaded the first free software that downloaded youtube vids. That one stopped working so this one was 2nd on the google search and it does what I want. Just be careful of the options you select during install.
If you don't want to install a program, you can use http://keepvid.com/ Just enter the youtube url and it will give you a link to download the video. |

I've used it several times on commercial sites rather than have embedded Youtube videos
One issue obviously is to ensure you don't infringe someone's copyright |

I did a Google earlier but was hoping someone might recommend one they've used. I really hate to download things without a referral.

Posted - 05 November 2013 : 15:25:22 It's not that the user decided to close it, but because YouTube shut down the account, for maybe breaking their policies. If you upload the offending video to your own youtube account, your account would likely be shut down by youtube as well.
That's the most common reason for user accounts being closed.
That aside, lots of free programs to download youtube video's. Just google 'youtube downloader'. Should get a few hits. Be wary tho, many of them come with ad programs or toolbars. |
