I suppose this is a javascript thing (I haven't looked), but awhile back I installed a version of WordPress (post 2.2 I think) for a friend. The one thing I really liked was their Widgets ... where a person can drag and drop which components they want installed. I remember reading that that feature was originally a MOD that was later incorporated into base code.

Does anyone know how to perhaps achieve that functionality in ASP or more specifically, Snitz?

Cheers,

Etymon

That's cool! Thanks Jeff!

That is the area that you can add widgets once you have uploaded them.

Sorry I was just mentioning wordpress still does this. But sorry I am unaware of anything in .asp that does the same things.

Thanks Jeff!

I took a screen shot for you all to see what I see.

Here it is (while supplies last - or I take it down ... whichever comes first ).

Also note that the Archive header on the right is something I moved and did a screen shot of at the same time to demonstrate that that is the only drag and drop area that I readily noticed in this version.

THey still have the same feature on Wordpress Etymon the design is just a little different. I am not sure if you drag and drop but you upload and activate it still. There is no extra coding involved for those widgets.

Well, I installed a copy, and not I can't find that feature. I mean. They still have the "Widgets" sub-heading under "Appearance" heading, but the way the widgets are applied is not the way it was before. I do see where I can still drag and drop the order of things for the widgets I choose. Perhaps there was a problem with that method or I am just overlooking something.

Thanks for the help guys!

Thanks Huw!

Is there an equivalent for Classic ASP?
HuwR Posted - 12 March 2009 : 11:37:40

Well, like MODs. You can install the MODs you want to use, but they are not activated until they are dragged from one box to another. I'll try to find some time today to install a copy on a server so we can play around with it.

Not being familiar with WordPress, or the widgets, could you give us some more concrete examples? Like what type of "components"?
