Basically the web development company I started is starting to get big customers and we are doing alot of custom work but would like a place we can write everything before putting it on their server.
So basically we want dev server to test and use before pushing it to theirs.
Thanks for the suggestions.< |

I'd missed the part where this was a testing server. However, I'd still put some RAM in there to get as much life out of it as I can. You'll notice a marked difference in performance, even with a small number of people using your server.< |

Posted - 17 February 2009 : 16:42:57 Yeah I have Web Server 2008 and Sequel Server 2005 already. So I will install those on there. Then I will see on the ram. Mainly this is a testing machine so I am not to concerned about performance in the sense that really no one else will be using it.
Thanks for the suggestions Anon they were much appreciated.< |

Also, its been my understanding that more often than not you can get a better deal by calling Dell and talking to a rep. than if you try to do it all online. Doesn't make sense, but that's the experience a number of people I know have had.< |

Posted - 17 February 2009 : 11:18:19 I buy a lot from TigerDirect.com, and that's where the Eastover Fire Department is getting their file server from. Don't know if there's a better place to go or not. You may want to listen to some of the server-related discussions from http://blog.stackoverflow.com and http://www.codinghorror.com< |
