Hey everyone - finally finished my snitz upgrade - and just wanted to post a few items.

my forum: billiardsforum.info/forum/ (please cut and paste - not linking because this is not a promotion attempt )

  • advice - #1 - subscribe to, and keep current with the security forum on this site. It's the only way ensure that your forum is secure and safe. #2 - spam fightin ain't easy, but can be done successfully if you just use common sense. Most spam can be deflected by using captcha. The next line of defense is to install a table with common spammer ip addresses (i have a access table with about 11,000 common spam addresses - just ask, and i'll email it to ya) I have installed a system that checks all visits agains the list, and response.end if they match. in 4 weeks, 8000 spam/bot visits have been blocked.
  • The snitz code is highly flexible - don't be afraid to play with it. everyone at this forum has also been extremely helpful. Thanks to everyone who has helped me.
  • SEO - this is the one area where snitz falls a little short. There are a number of things one can do, however, and i've written an *general* article about it here:

    http://www.robarspages.ca/seo/snitz-forum-seo/

if anyone would like a more in-depth explanation of any of my techniques, please just ask

Also, if anyone wants any code from anything they see on my forum install, please ask, I'm happy to share as open-source.

Anyway, really I just wanted to thank the developers and the community for the great product. Thanks to snitz, my forum is finally a success.

PS - does anyone know the owner of snitzhcd.com ? thats the stats application for snitz owners, but the site has been malfunctioning for over 2 months, and I can't reach the webmaster.<

Thanks for the kind words, I did post on the other forum, and got some good feedback.<

Thank you for letting us the way you feel about Snitz. I'm sure those who invested so much time coding the forum appreciate the feedback.

I think you should probably post in the Show Off Your Forums forum, as your forum looks really good and I'm certain you'd welcome the praise that's sure to come for its design.<

Well, thanks again on that Gary. I made it for my wife and her work. I do enjoy the colors and a few other things. I'm not a graphical guy. You've heard of those folks who can't carry a tune in a bucket? Well, that would be me carrying graphics. LOL! I "can" do the graphics, but "I" feel like it takes me forever in a day to do them. "Snitz is awesome" ... I'd have to agree with 100% there buddy! BTW, I sent e-mail to your addy.

Cheers,

Etymon

yah its good. I like when a forum integration is seamless. There are so many sites out there, including many high-profile sites, where you click on the forum link, and the forum implementation looks totally different. I've never understood that. Its very confusing and looks 'lazy' imho.<

My website ... Thanks! It's in need of an overhaul. Seems like I have time for other sites and not my own. LOL!<

Hey Gary,

Thanks for the info! Looks very good!

Do you have an e-mail we can find you with? There doesn't appear to be one for you here at Snitz.<
