Hi,

I am planing to use this forum inside a classified portal.
But many users want to keep their contact information privacy (because of spammer), is their any mode that can create aliases for email adresses and used by the forum?<

I might be was not clear at the beginning of this thread, this thread was not focused on the issue that I wanted to bring up.
The idea is to create anonymous user name/email address on the fly when the user login each time to the forun/portal and will be used by the CLASSIFIED application
(which is PERSONALIZE by the user and will be optional parameter in admin page).
This way the forum can be easily integrated with application that required complete privacy.

example: I do not want other user to know what item i posted to the classified application and what items I posted to the forum (explicity).
I do not mind to used the user name info as registered to the forum, but I do mind to use alias name in the classified application.

lets say in other words, isolating the classified portal from the forum but still using the authentication of snitz.<

Also, users might be want to be anonymous completely when posting messages by creating alias to their user name as well...which is not available in snitz's as much as I know (I am new to snitz).

Then why not tell them to register again, with a name that they can use to stay anonymous? I know of some members here that do that...<

On my laptop,no email server configured with Snitz but. i have other snitz on my company machine which configured to work with email server, the email adress was visible there as well. Is there any config variable to set on purpose to hide the email adress?<

Just wanted to add that users like theirs privacy when posting messages especially in a classified web application.
Also, users might be want to be anonymous completely when posting messages by creating alias to their user name as well...which is not available in snitz's as much as I know (I am new to snitz).
I guess that should be done a little work here to integrate snitz with classified portal.
Let me know your thoughts

also, you have to have email turned on in your forum. otherwise, the forum allows users to use their own email client to send messages.<

Thanks for the response Davido,
I know this was intended to be implemented but the fact is that when doing right click with the mouse on "Send Email to member" pop up windows the email address will be visible in the source code.
