We are currently looking for a new message board software and we think Snitz is the way to go. We do have one problem, this was the first year of our message boards that deal with high school athletics. Throughout the year we had a monsterous time deleting account and banning user due to a lot immature high school students ripping on coaches, refs and other players. We need to find a way that people can be held accountable but yet still post somewhat anonymously. One of our ideas is to charge $1-$5 for an account, that way they would have to pay with either credit card or check and we would have there name and contact info so if they abuse there privilages and someone else who is on the recieving end of there insults complains we will know who to direct it to. We are also considering combining this fee with some kind of premium content elsewhere on our site or include a membership to the board if they buy a t-shirt or something of the like.

So I guess my question is does charging users to use the message board go against the GNU? I guess another question might be if anyone had any suggestions as to what else we can do to have more accountability on our board.

thanks so much for your help.<

That is not against the license.

Accountability is always a hard thing to do especially if your forum is for a smaller group of people that generally know one another. You could always use moderators to police the posts although that can be overwhelming.<
