Posted - 26 May 2013 : 00:14:55 I would like to have a means for members to be able to share their own reply/message/post (and nothing else except their own) to places like Facebook, Twitter, etc.
The "Share Topic Mod" won't work because like the title suggests, it allows members to share the entire topic. Some of my members think that's an invasion of their privacy since they don't want anything of theirs on sites like Facebook.
But let's say a member visits all of the popular sites of today and would love to be able to share what they've posted on my site with numerous sites with just the click of a button (well, a button each for sites like, Facebook, Twitter, etc.). . .would that be much trouble to author a mod that would allow this?
I have some artists/performers who like to visit my site as well and would love a means of updating their fans, on numerous sites, in an easy way like I mentioned above.

Posted - 26 May 2013 : 05:23:10 The link to replies is pretty much the same as for topics and facebook, for example, does not distinguish between them (I know, because I have actually coded something to share topics and replies autonomously, through a like button and once any of them was liked, all of them were too). |

Posted - 26 May 2013 : 04:22:05 No. I'm saying that UNLESS you have restricted the forum to "Members Only" or to "Allowed Member List", any shared topic will display the entire contents of that topic and replies. If you HAVE restricted the forum, none of the contents should be displayed; so invasion of privacy is either unsolvable or a non-issue. |

Posted - 26 May 2013 : 02:39:25 Are you saying that if I started a topic, and there were 10 replies, and I clicked on "share" the only thing that would be visible on the external sites would be my topic/post (whatever I typed)?

Posted - 26 May 2013 : 01:59:16 If the person sharing does so at the topic level, it will also automatically share all replies, so you'd still have the invasion of privacy issue for the authors of the replies. However, with required registration and set to "members only" for forum access, the contents of topics/replies should not be visible on external sites unless copied/pasted. |
