I'm thinking of writing some quiz software for Snitz. Here's an outline of what is planned so far - it'll take a while since I'm moving from SC to ND this week. If anyone has any suggestions/requests, please reply so I cover the bases BEFORE we start beta-testing instead of after the mod is posted to SnitzBitz.

quote:

	Quiz Software

	1)	Admin page:
		a)	Configure:
			1	Number of questions
2	Format (multiple choice, t/f, essay, combo)
3	Display entire page of questions or advance after each answer
		b)	Add/Delete/Edit Questions
		c)	Add/Delete Quizzes
		d)	On/Off
		e)	Access level
		f)	Review results (by name w/ drop-down)
		g)	Option - auto grading, auto reporting of top 5 scorers

	2)	Quiz page:
		a)	UserName
		b)	Date (autofill)
		c)	Quiz ID and/or Name
		d)	Subject
		e)	Timer (count-down) for time-limited testing
		f)	Check if username has begun quiz in past, do not let retake any/all
		g)	Questions in random order, answers (if multiple choice) in random order
		h)	Window style - pop-up for advance after answer, optional for other styles

Off and on. Too many things for my attention. Helping my son remodel his home, working on my daughter's website, tutoring, helping out here when I can, etc.; and all-the-while trying to get ready to move back to Europe in less than 45 days.

How is this quiz coming along? Are you still working on it?<

I got a copy of his last night. He did a lot of work on it. I wrote him & if he agrees to collaborate, I won't reinvent the wheel.

I could add the score-keeping (historical) routines to it quite simply. I saw a few other things we could tweak (like extending the number of days before allowing a retake to a month vs a week), and strictly for cosmetics, add at least one other color to break up the field of blue when creating a quiz, etc.

Some of the other ideas I had in mind aren't available in Cripto's, it would be nice to have it all in one package.<

Note: Cripto's doesn't save the scores.<

I wasn't planning on grading them - just wanted the option available to any teachers out there.

I will talk to Cripto, sure. If he's already done some of this, it can only make it easier (and faster).<

Don't forget logging of past tests. People like to compare results and/or someone may want to look into how people are doing, what they're missing, etc.

cripto9t was working on a Quiz MOD - http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=63931 - and it has a lot of what you're proposing. It would probably be better to take what he's done and work with him on finishing it. I've been meaning to but I keep getting pulled in other directions.

FWIW, I wouldn't bother working with Essay/Fill-in-the-Blank type questions as you're going to have a bugger of a time grading them, and they will inevitably lead to more hassle then they are worth. I've seen it too much to cave on that point with the LMS at work.<

Sounds good so far. I'd be very interested in using the quiz on my forum.<

Check with cripto. He wrote a quiz MOD also.<
