Would like to modify my Snitz 3.4.05 forum (a new project, not the one on my signature) heavily so it can do a few things I haven't seen on any other Snitz forum.
Main mod would be where the user has to have a paid subscription or a special code entered before the answer to a question (post) is seen, as in www.experts-exchange.com for example.
I'd like some way of effectively hiding the answer but I'm not sure if Snitz would lend itself to this or if I should start again.
Any ideas on this one, can it be done?

Thanks Roger, any code helps as I need to dig much deeper on this it seems. Any more help would be greatly appreciated, in particular how to get a 3rd input field into a post.< |

Ok, my code will not solve any problem for you but I did send it to you by mail. As a matter of fact the code I send to you deals with the opposite problem - stopping not qualified people from read/write anything else then just one topic connected to that specific visitor. Let us know how you solved your issue in the end, lets hope that you will get some qualified comments on this topic too.< |

I wish I could understand your language Roger, your site looks good!
To expand on my needs:
I really need to mod the code so that I have a main category, forums and topics which are all visible as in the base code. However, in each topic I need a subject and message but would like to have a third input field which is 'Brief description'. The message part is to remain hidden unless there is a trigger like a credit card or PayPal transaction whereupon it becomes visible. I think the best way to do this is to tie the payment transaction to the username and then to permanently allow the username rights of access to the message he paid for.

I have done something similar on my site. Visitors order an investigation and are at the same time Snitz-registered and logged in on my site. Except the investigation they also get subscription allowing them to read everything on the site during 12 months .(they get an invoice and most people pay about 15 USD).
I have done a few lines of code to prevent others to see more then titles of forums and topics. However I feel that this could be achieved much easier and safer by using the group-mod (?) and would be interested to know how.
If you are interested I could send you the code but I am not much of an ASP:er so do not expect to much although it works for my purposes.< |
