Posted - 06 March 2005 : 19:11:18 It's that time again when I decide to upgrade the poll mod once more. It's a popular mod that's a must have for any forum.
So what's happening for the next version? Well, I am planning to incorporate some of your ideas that you have suggested since the last mod. Here is what I have on my list of new features.
1. Time Set Poll - allows you to set a closing time for each poll. (Will incorporate cripto9t's add-on for this. Thanks cripto9t.) 2. Expand Show Who Voted feature - should allow you to see who voted for what answer. Also make it public or private. Public will allow anyone to see who voted for what. Private will prevent anyone from seeing who voted. 3. Checkbox Answers - in addition to radio-boxes, can have polls that use check boxes instead. It will allow members to vote for multiple answers.
I think that's it. You guys have any more REASONABLE suggestions for new features or suggestions to improve the current mod?< |

Posted - 27 April 2006 : 02:57:16 I would suggest either adding a separate db field for poll mod (first field in the poll answers sounds like a good place fo it) or using the topic title for it.
Also, moving the poll away from the inside of first post, and just above it, preferably in a sub getPoll() format. < |

This poll upgrade with just what you have listed above would really help - it's exactly what I'm looking for! I for one, can't wait to install it!
In the meantime, if anyone has any ideas on how to implement the multiple votes and recording a members specific vote - I'd love to hear it. I've got a thread explaining what I'm trying to do here: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=61682 < |

Posted - 22 August 2005 : 13:24:59 I look forward to an update to the Poll MOD, it might iron out the problem I have with the one I have at the moment.
Keep up the good work Davio....< |

Posted - 22 August 2005 : 13:09:12 Multiple-choice polling is not exactly a trivial change to the existing MOD. I could not wait so made my own enhancements for my board. Here is an example result for one of them.
Subtle things needed to be considered. For example, the lengths of the bars needed to be determined as a percentage of all ballots cast, not votes.
Guests are 'suspect' in terms of their votes (they are, after all, anonymous) so I had to develop a way to track them differently than members. Since I did that it only made sense to enhance the presentation by using different colors for each. My members have greatly enjoyed the new capabilities.
Davio, I am perfectly willing to work with you on this enhancement. My code is crude by comparison to yours and is not in a condition to be released.< |

Posted - 22 August 2005 : 12:33:20 Any news on the new version yet? I have some users on my forum clamoring for the ability to have multiple answers.< |

Posted - 14 March 2005 : 01:10:44 LOL!! Did you? Have to check my records!! But anyways, that was for last time, this is for this time.
RichC and I will talk off air. It seems a high priority is the upgrade from the current version. That shouldn't be too hard as I would be adding database fields and not taking away. (Hopefully)< |

Say, didn't I PayPal you last time? Sheesh! Give'm a dime then they want a dollar. . . < |

Correct, I paid redBrad0 to custom code it for me.< |
