I want to post this incase anyone would like to take over the hosting of snitzbitz.com. I am in the process of selling my web hosting business as my other online venture's require to much of my time. With this being said... when the sell of EZNetIdeas.com is complete SnitzBitz will go offline unless someone would like to do this following.

1. Pay the company that is buying EZNetIdeas for hosting of SnitzBitz
2. I can transfer SnitzBitz to someone and give them access to the data for them to take full control on their own hosting and hopefully improve Snitzbitz
3. If Snitz would like to start hosting the mod's then I would give it to them for sure over anyone else.

I am not trying to sell this at all so it will be someone's for FREE as long as you agree to pay for hosting and keep it going. If anyone is intrested please send me a email to bradw(@)eznetideas(.)com<

Just to let you guys know, that the host has allowed me to oversee the SnitzBitz.com site. So if you guys have any problems with the site, you know who to contact. <

Just an idea..
what about creating some SnitzBitz country located such as italian, deutsch, spanish etc. etc. hosting mods in that languages, but with a similar structure so if one site has some trouble he can move files to another site location, to avoid lost of such a great mess of data?<

It was only the domain name that expired. It is already being hosted at Hosts Of America (can google them if you want). Seems like one of the members here is part of that hosting company.

So hosting is taken care of. If hosting is a problem again, will let you guys know.<

Nice Brad, I think you saved a lot of panic here (well for me). My one question is "is it going to be hosted where it is at or does someone still need to step up"? I do not have the means to do so but there are many people willing to help.

Again thank you for getting it back up!<

And if you read the whole topic, there are people asking for this MOD, and that MOD added to the base code, so I don't think anyone knows what needs to be done in the next version, including me that will be beneficial to all users and not just for their own needs when you read the thread.

I know I would not like to be waiting for people to come up with the final list of what needs to be added, but it needs to be a community decision rather than mine or just a few from the development team.

As for the topic at hand, lets hope that SnitzBitz comes back online soon. I am sure I got most of the MODS downloaded from there, plus some old ones that where removed.

Sorry, David. I read "Please let me know what needs to be done.." and "I want to do a little more to help with the code of Snitz." to mean that you did not know what was going on with the development of the Snitz v4 code. Seeing as we were waiting on a comment from the dev leader as to the status of v4, you can maybe see how I misread it. My apologies.

Thanks for getting SnitzBitz back up, Brad. <

Thanks brad. I can access the site ok. Good going. <

Guys sorry about the delay. The domain has been renewed and should be back online shortly.

Guys I think it's time for everyone to chill out for a sec and reassess what's happening.
B4 going into verbal diarrhea and accusations over little things, the base of the matter is that snitzbitz is a very valuable asset to snitz. More for what it represents than just a library of code.
Snitz will not crumble just because SB is down but it doesn't help either. On the other hand I know that heaps of people here including my self would gladly host the site for free for as long as it takes. I mean isn't that what most of us do for living ?
So lets get the domain back or register a new one so we can all start uploading what we have and get back to normal.

Maybe because not all of us are programmers, Huw. Though, if you want testers, then I'm willing to put myself forward. Also, a Dev Team was gathered a while back, how are we to know that the team is needing members when we don't get any information?

I'm the opposite - I am a programmer, and I have previously requested to be included on the dev team. I was told that members are selected they do not volunteer, more like a "don't call us, we'll call you" so it really is a closed shop.

Huw, SnitzBitz and Snitz are separate but as I said if the biggest Snitz MOD site just disappears then it doesn't look good. Brad can control the domain, but it sounds like he has no control over the site content any more.

What is wrong with members asking about the situation with v4? Are we not allowed to be a bit put out (sorry, "moan") when after asking for months for some news as to its progress, we get "we have no news"? It's particularly depressing when you realise that members of the Dev Team itself don't actually know what's going on. (reference to Classicmotorcycling's post in the dev topic)

Couldn't we set up some kind of Snitz v4 Dev blog that the Dev Team could post to whenever they liked and members could add comments? I'm sure the Dev Team and members alike would see that as a positive step.

I resemble that comment

It seems there are more than enough people willing to take this move on.

If I can do anything to help please let me know.
I'm guessing my offer to Brad was the same as everyone else's - I'll host the entire site for free and keep it in the same manner it is now.

The only thing wrong with Snitz is the members ability to moan about everything and yet be conspicuosly absent when we want anyone to do something to help
Rubbish ! I've offerred to host snitzbitz at the start of this thread, I've offerred to be on the Dev team for years, I've offerred to write documentation before as well. All these have been ignored or I get a "I'll get back to you" response. I'm not saying I'm always the best candidate for any position, and there are other life priorities that slow things down sometimes but little things like a domain renewal Myself and probably at least another 10 people here can fork out for the domain at cost price, throw AdSense on the site for a month and get the money back - if we even bothered to be reimbursed.

I guess the immediate question is how long do we wait before we put together some sort of temporary fix? And what sort of temporary fix do we put in place if it becomes needed?

We have new people coming all the time and they will be looking for the MODs, so where do we point them (until this gets resolved)?<
srcigars Posted - 24 July 2006 : 16:19:58
My guess is that some of you already have got this domain name on backorder? As no one has heard back from Brad my guess is getting snitzbitz's data will be a challange. I sure hope this works out and hope this stays on subject so the real topic here is not lost. It seems there are more than enough people willing to take this move on.

If I can do anything to help please let me know.<

Lets not stray from the point of the topic. Laser, I have brad on my messenger list, so I am able to contact him when he is online. He and I did some business together.<

thats what the dev team forums are for, if the dev team don't post in them there isn't a lot I can do about it either<
