I need to determine a visitors country to decide what to serve them. I've Googled it and there are a lot of packages out there for this from free to lots o' money.
Is there anyone here that is doing this now and if so what software are you using? If I'm going to pay for this I'd like to make sure it works well first. smile

ok, fisrtly, doesn't matter how much you pay, it wil never ever be 100% accurate. The IP you are given is determined by the range of IP addresses your ISP has available to dole out, some very large ISP's like AOL do not always give you an IP that actually reltes to your country, many UK AOL users are assigned US IP addressses.
having said that, have you tried searching here as I'm pretty sure this topic came up not that long agao.

I'm very aware of it not being 100% accurate and I know how IPs work. But even 80% accurate will make me a lot more money and my visitors will be unaffected by errors. I'm only changing link structures based on country, that's it.
Anyone using anything now they like?

I was giving some valid advice, no need to take that attitude.

I will check what we use at work as well as we have something in our payment system to try and work out who is supposed to pay VAT or not.

That would be great. That way I know I'm paying for something that actually works well.
