As I stated in a different post, if you have questions/suggestions about Snitz, MODs, and just about anything else that the general community would benefit from, please don't e-mail me the question. The whole point of a community is to share the information and help the next fellow with the same question. smile
A suggestion was sent to me by [redacted] after they'd read my spam fighting compendium:
In the code snippet you provide for the config.asp, I would propose some additional enhancements. For example, creating a feature to turn on or off the gathering of all the 'agents' that attempt membership. As enough information develops a person could turn on the anti-spam feature with the improved 'agent' table in play. Perhaps capturing the agent for each new member too. When reviewed the spammer could be ID'd even if they are clever enough to change it.
That is a good suggestion. It would be nice to get a better list of possible user agents that can be tagged as spammers. I don't think it will stop someone industrious enough to change it, but the more idiots you can block the less hassle you'll have. smile
This information should already be in the server logs if you're feeling industrious enough to go diving... though server logs tend to make my eyes cross after the first few dozen entries. blackeyetongue
I've been looking at taking the statistics package that WROX had up somewhere (they use Snitz too smile), updating it to recognize IE7 and a few other things (its a little old...), and integrating it into Snitz. Unfortunately, like a lot of projects lately, its gotten put on the back burner as things have gotten rather hectic at work. sad<

Since this sounds a lot like the OS/Agent table we covered here, maybe these should be combined or this one deleted?<

We tend not to do either around here since the "Merge Topic" function is a MOD and not a part of the base code - and hence not installed here; and we tend not to delete topics unless there is a really good reason. A search on anything around here will show that redundancy just isn't enough to warrant deleting a topic. wink
Having said all that, keep up the good work on that topic. I hope the individual who e-mailed me finds what they need in that topic.<
