The main problem I see with this is that (unless you have an army of moderators), you'll have to read each and every post to verify its "genuineness". Then you run into the issue of what is a "genuine" post, etc.
In my opinion, a better way to increase traffic would be to take that money and buy advertising. The media would be based on your target audience, but you could advertise in newspapers, on other websites, pay-per-click sites, etc.<

kolucoms6,
I used the points MOD, very heavily changed, on my forum http://www.timesharetalk.co.uk. It is integrated in with donations/subscriptions.
It is ideal for what you want, but a lot to install and customise. I agree with what muzishun says, it could cause you problems.
The other option (and far easier) is just to calculate the money on post count. ie. 100 posts x 0.05 cents
Financial incentive to post works well, but you have to monitor it heavily. I pay out between £200 and £500 per year, but nearly all of it is covered by subs.<

Btw, Kulocoms6...isn't one twentieth of a cent a bit to cheap? They need a hundred posts for a dime, or even worse : 2000 posts for just a dollar....that's not an incentive, that's an insult.<
