I've added this feature to my code, but i would have thought that this would have been something that was in the base code

What exactly is a "salutation field" and what would its purpose be if you don't mind me asking?<

I think what he/she means is a field in the profile that you have to fill in to join the forum, might be wrong tho.<

Salutation: A word or phrase of greeting used to begin a letter or message.
So I assume a "salutation field" would be a database field used to record ... Mr. / Mrs. / Miss / Sir / Ma'am / Doctor / Honorable / President / Senator / Congressman / etc., etc., etc.....
Sounds to me like a nightmare for no reason.<

That's what I thought it'd be, but I honestly don't understand why it'd have to be added as the user is never addressed with his/her real name on the forums.<

*shrug* ok, so maybe other people don't find it useful. :)
I really didn't think it was a nightmare to implement and it was something that my users were asking for.<
