Dear Snitz Forums community,

The current SnitzBitz hosts have decided to put their servers to the grave and has given us the SnitzBitz files and database to keep. We have moved the site over to our servers here, ran by Huw, but there are some lingering issues that will take a little longer to fix.

File uploads are not working at the moment, but downloading mods still works.

We're also looking to redo the site using newer technologies, as a make over is long overdue.

Thanks for your understanding and patience. :)

Newer Technologies

I assume that means .Net? Here's a suggestion for the makeover: add a search capability which will not only search mod titles, but comments, etc. There are some mods (e.g., user groups) which have multiple files and titles ... which would benefit from consolidation. In the current format, unless a user is aware of the multiple entries, some of them could easily be overlooked.

Thanks Carefree. I know most of the sites many shortcomings. We (gary and I) were working on the search many years ago, but personal lives got in the way. Then progress halted.

Contemplating getting a ready made package to run it. But if none suits us, then see if we can make one using asp.net.

Since you're the #1 user of the site, will consult you on it when I'm ready.

OK. I'd offer to help code the search, but don't know enough .Net to be effective. My search functions for my video database do what they're supposed to do, but it's all in .ASP pages.

Unless I've missed something, it's still in Classic ASP. There was some discussion about re-building in .NET, but nothing's moved beyond the discussion/planning stage at this point in time.

I am playing with updating it to mvc, partly as an exercise to create a Snitz API for use by MOD writers for the MVC version, so watch this space

Sooo, are the mods located somewhere now in which they can be easily accessed/downloaded?

is the right link https://www.snitzbitz.com/?

Impossible to contact the server, it seems like the website doesn't exist anymore.
