I am just a bit curious from a cultural/political standpoint about the Ukraine and the EU.

I was born, raised, and still live in the USA.

When I was a child, I had a friend who was Ukrainian, and recently as well, I have met a few Ukrainians. My experience so far has been favorable. However, I have also met Russians in my life, and my acquaintance with their ways I found sketchy as I viewed the way they did things.

Since the Crimeria annexation, I have followed Ukraine's developments. I am curious if the EU will find Ukraine as a good fit for the Union.

Does anyone have ideas on these things?

Hello,

I know he made #8203;#8203;a request to the European Unions recement attachment and invasion by the Russians in the Crimea does not favor this rattachment. Armed conflicts continue, but there is a moment that I have not followed the case. For my part, Russia falls into dictatorship with Poutine, the laws it establishes strike seriously freedoms of Russian and baffoue human rights. Communist dictatorship is not completely gone, because Poutine is a former KGB and remains poorly wrong way him to govern his people.

Cordially,
Maxime

Ukraine and Russia have an intertwined history for centuries, and Ukraine has been part of Russia off and on for centuries, and people there have disagreed for centuries. Western Europeans have tried to interfere in the area for quite a while too, remember back to the war that spawned the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Another issue in relations between Ukraine and Russia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_collaborationism_with_the_Axis_powers, which didn't go over well in a country that sacrificed around 25 million of their citizens fighting the Nazi's.
