There are many unwanted users posted some funky wordings/text in my forum constantly! I already locked their member name and also deleted their user ID. Can you tell me how they got back in with the same user ID?
Can you tell me how can I get rid there userID permanently deleted for good?
Please advice,

? how can you lock a member and delete their userid?
Please explain what you have done/are doing. If you lock a member it is not possible to register with that name agian, if you delete a member then anyone can reregister with that name, userid's are unique and can never be reused whther the user is deleted or not. |

Hi HuwR,
Well, I locked the member’s User first from the forum, then I went to the member’s TAB (link) and look for his/her User and click the “delete member” and I can see the member’s User’s gone. So I assuming I already deleted the User too just to make sure besides just locked.
But either I locked him or deleted him after, he/she shouldn’t able to login under the same User, but he came back the next time and signed back in under the same User again?
A mean, I can’t avoid unwanted people to register it even he/she register as a new user, I guess I just have to keep locking / delete their User again if he/she continuously posting unwanted massage.. Overall, can you tell me which the best way to do, “lock” the User or “delete the “User” is the best way?
Please advice, Thanks,

It's always best to lock, to stop unwanted from registering under the same name. If you delete them, they can just register again with the same username.
Are you approving members before allowing them to access the forum? |

Hi ruirib,
Great, then I will just lock them from now on, but after I locked the user, is it ok also deletes the “topic” after? So other members can’t see the topic?
Also, is there’s a MOD I can download that can list / see ALL the User’s name at once (one page), then all I have to do is to choose (click, click, click) any User and lock them ALL at once (Batch), rather than lock ONE, then a little pop-up window I have to confirm it with my password as each every time.
Please advice, Thanks

HI ruirib,
I just like the way is now, I don't have to approve each new register each time, this way they can sign up and start post instantly plus safe me lot of time for approval.
But this MOD is the best to go, I guess this is the best way to do after all! that way they know I am keeping track.
Thanks for your advice and info again. |

Hi ruirib,
I went to fast and I think I make a booboo! As far as I remembered, I click on the "lock member" now I can't find the un-lock member OR delete member button at all (It disappeared for good)? Can you show me how to retrieve the button if possible to bring the buttons back?
Please Help! Thanks |

If you lock a member it hides it from the members list. You can search in the admin options for the user to make sure that they are locked.

Not sure what you mean, Classic. If an admin locks someone, it stays in the members list, but the lock icon is replaced by the unlock icon.
You need to make sure you have the unlock icon image in your forum images folder (icon_unlock.gif), goofyguy620. |

Hi Classicmotorcycling, ruirib,
I really make a Boo Boo this time, I just find out the lock and unlock button is actually locate in the "member" link (seach member by letter). I must over looked when I was in that member page! I'm ok now!
Sorry, and Thanks again as always!

Ruirib,
I have found that if I lock a member on a forum of mine (running 3.4.05), then they are not listed in members.asp, and even if I search for them they are not found in the list, but I can go to admin_member_search.asp and they can be found.quote: Originally posted by ruirib

I have always found this function handy so that others can not find the accounts of locked users. In 3.4.07 it lists the user with a unlock icon. |

Sorry, that is not a default Snitz behavior. As far as I can tell, in all Snitz forums I have seen, when an admin locks someone, that member still shows in members.asp, with a locked icon, for admins. It does not show for other members, but they can find it through searching, though. I am guessing that behavior of yours must be result of a customization done to your forum. |
