For you younger guys, and 8 ball is the "odd ball", meaning whomever it was directed at is a bit strange.

I remember 30-40 years ago when they had an "8 Ball" which was supposed to answer questions. You shook it and the interior ball which floated in some fluid would revolve a printed answer to the window. |

I had one too. I remember using a real 8 ball I drilled out in wood shop and used it for the gearshift knob on my '67 Firebird 4 on the floor convertible ;-}
