Hi everyone,

Just wanted to update you all on my status.

I'll be around the forums sporadically until late summer. We found out last week that we're expecting our 3rd child! I couldn't be happier!

Cheers,

Etymon

Congrats! So, that makes at least two Snitzers with a child process...

Did I miss that post somewhere? Or is it just my failing memory?

And is there something in the water? Or is it 'cause of the unusually cold winter? <

You will be surprised how fast your son will surpass you. I bet he will be ahead of you in anytime... I have a friend with 7 years old son who is doing his beta testing for new apps...Unlike me who started learning ASP coding in mid 50s thanks to Snitz and people here.<

I hope he does very soon. I need an extra set of eyes to debug code as well as create new stuff!

Right now he likes Flash. We just have Flash 5, but he still enjoys it. I heard him singing a tune to himself just the other day that he made up about how he loved scripts. I asked him what he was into, and he said ActionScript. He was so happy with himself and what he was doing. He is so much fun!

What is really cool for me as a Dad is that he was diagnosed with moderate/severe Autism, and we were told that even at age 8 he would only babble like a 6 month old baby. At age 3 he wasn't even talking or making eye contact, but instead hitting his head against the wall and spinning in circles as well as the other classic Autism traits.

We changed our lives around to accommodate their needs (his sister has Autism also), and now at age 9 he has just read his first book (Chronicles of Narnia [Book 1]) and he is complaining that he wants to most up-to-date version of Visual Studio as well as a laptop that will run dual monitors.

We think his love for the computer has helped him a lot with his reading. He still into his own world with a lot of things, but at least this world of his (computers) is something that helps him keep in touch with other worlds!

Oh, my daughter is 7 and has just caught on to what reading is. I heard her reading last night with my wife.

Kids are so cool! And, even if they are handicapped they are just as cool!

Bless you Etymon. I just remembered that you have a forum dedicated to special needs community. Yes, one good thing about what's called "computer" is it provides a neutralizer/equalizer enviornment for special needs. I have a daughter who was born premature (really premature) and have CP. With lots of developmental issues on the way and still very much physically challenged. I have a few close frieds who have children with Autism. Yes, kids are cool and you learn a lot from them about life and what's important.<

Don't be sorry. As I said, you learn something about life and what's important. There is nothing to be sorry about, but actually a blessing for things that you discover and otherwise may not appreciate. Thanks for your offer and kind thought. I wish you to have a wonderful life with your special child. Otherwise, all is well with me and my family. Thanks again.<
