Good morning. It's been days since checking my email and while doing so this A. M. I found this very strange email dated August 8, 2008, from a snitz member in my in box. I was not sure where to post this but thought you all might want to know. Here is a copy of the email I received:

There is a renowned Biblical scholar named Charles Hodge who said (in one of his more famous books) "universality of belief is valid evidence of the truth believed" ...
Because people believe it, that makes it so? What rot! This is a very well educated man, yet he would have us swallow rubbish...people used to believe that the earth was flat and the center of the universe, that stars were our ancestors, that the sun was a deity, that "sea monsters" were responsible for every ship sinking, and that volcanoes could be appeased with sacrifices. Did such belief make any of these fantasies factual, give them existence beyond the flights of imagination? No, but people were put to death because they voiced their disagreement with what their leaders wanted to believe. Mr Hodge should get a job working for the "National Enquirer".
Another gentleman named Arthur Pink espouses a "Doctrine of Justification" which doesn't precisely coincide with Mr Hodge's views. Now, having said that - my daughter's professor is enamored with Mr Hodge & expects a 7-9 page paper NLT Friday vindicating his love affair. I suppose if my daughter wants a good grade, she'll have to set aside logic and allow her professor to preen. That's MY "doctrine of justification".< |
