One thing I have noticed with most (if not all MODS) is that they do not include any code changes to update the page title.
When people view a forum, the page titles are shown as -
1. Forum Title 2. {Topic Subject} - Forum Title - (When displaying a topic page) 3. {Category Title} - Forum Title - (When displaying a category page) 4. Forum Title - Page Title - When viewing the standard pages)
But when people start to add all these MOD's to their site with new pages, there are no page title updates.
So, this is how you do it -
In inc_func_common.asp, look for the following around line 1460 -
Case "policy.asp" strNewTitle = strForumTitle & " - User Agreement" Case "register.asp" strNewTitle = strForumTitle & " - Register" Case "down.asp" strNewTitle = strForumTitle & " is currently closed." Case "default.asp" strNewTitle = strForumTitle Case else strNewTitle = strForumTitle
All you need to do is insert your own Case statements for the pages you have. For example -
Case "pm_view.asp" strNewTitle = strForumTitle & " - Private Messages"
or
Case "searchlog.asp" strNewTitle = strForumTitle & " - Search Log"
Apart from making the forum more informative, it also helps in the search engines.
Hope this helps some people
