Has anyone had the time to put together a mobile friendly version of the Snitz forum? Or perhaps something akin to a RSS reader that can be read from a mobile phone?
just wondering < |

It would be nice, but I've really had no problem surfing Snitz on my T-Mobile Dash which runs Windows Mobile 5.0.
As for an RSS feed, Snitz has one here:

A while ago someone was working on a mobile version and you should be able to find the topic if you search (It may have been archived too...) - If memory serves well, you might want to include "PocketPC" or some variant in your query.
I don't remember if it was ever finished, or if the source was ever released. But, you will most likely find a good discussion of what needs to be done.

Here is a link to the thread in question, but the last post was in February so it may be a daed topic now. I am actually very interested in putting together a mobile version and after pondering it this weekend, it shouldn't be too hard. I am going to spend some time in the next week or two going through the code and see what I can do to "dumb it down" for mobile devices. I will be honest and let you know that my mobile audience is on Blackberries so that is my intended platform. I can't guarantee what the end result will look like on other mobile devices.
The end goal will be to enable the user to logon via the mobile device which will then present the user with a list of posts sorted with the most recent post at the top. Specific forums and categories will be ignored. This is being done for a small forum with few restrictions. The only mods currently installed are an RSS Feed, UserGroups, Mike's File Attachements and Avatars. The RSS links will not be visible on the mobile device. UserGroup restrictions will carry over (posts to which the user does not have access simply won't be displayed). File attachments will be viewable on the device, but I will probably remove the ability to post attachments from the device. Avatars will be disabled.
And now I shall go stare at some asp and SQL code for a while! :)
