I've been working on a "SubAdmin" mod (primarily for use with the SubForum mod), right now I've done the barebones for it but it's not particularly userfriendly to the admin and is very breakable from the main admins point of view. anyway the point of this topic is to see whether or not i need to make it user friendly or not, if you think you'd like to use the mod just post below and i'll add userfriendlyness to my list of things to do and will package it up when i've completed it.

What it lets you do...
When run alongside the subforum mod you can assign a member to be admin of a single forum, ie granting them full admin editing capabilities and the ability to make members of their choice moderator of the forum, restrict access to the forum (except to you) etc. Their capabilities however end there - they have no special privilidges on any part of the rest of the forums.
I'm also working on giving them an admin area to be used with skin mods etc so that they can have limited control over the functions and looks of their forum.
You can of course use it without the subforum mod, its just more professional looking - plus if they make any obscene comments in the forum description noone can see it <

I've finished it for the new version of my website which will be going up mid december. the final list of features should i be convinced to put the work in and make it a mod:

  • Members can set up and edit their own forum, in a predetermined category/parent forum, only allowed to change description, name, access and sub moderators. They are automatically allocated as the Sub Admin of this forum and are thus able to act as a moderator in that forum and edit the forum details, - all done in a rip of post.asp heavily edited to ensure no damage can be done.

  • Members can select "Sub Moderators" from any member for a forum of which they are the Sub Admin. Sub moderators are basically the same as sub admins however they cannot edit the forum and the Sub Admin can remove them from their position in that forum at any time

  • You can edit all of the details edited by the sub admin yourself simply by editing the forum in the normal way, and of course you can edit anything else about the forum like normal
  • <

Whoops forgot I said I'd mod this, might have some time coming up if anyones still interested, can't guaruntee much though. Should have time to rip the code at the very least though and do a quick readme, although possibly not thorough as that would require getting lines etc from an unmodified snitz<

Ok a very basic beta can be downloaded here

DO NOT USE THIS ON A LIVE FORUM - IT HAS NOT BEEN TESTED!
I've simply ripped my code from memory, I am 100% certain there'll be issues with this! The two included files are not put into a snitz design, I've just removed all my design code from it to leave the bare minimum, I know not all the strings are sanitised in there (main culprits will be the two files that have been ripped from my code into forum-only code) and the line numbers in the readme are probably miles out. Apologies for all that but I discovered on Friday I have to get a demo recorded of about 7/8 decent songs by next week so my time is extremely limited, if someone has the knowhow and time feel free to work through and correct my mistakes/omissions
    Errors and questions here...

once again, please don't use this if you need it to work - i haven't done anything to make sure it works with a clean install of snitz, if you install it and get stuck I'll help out but don't expect it to work. hopefully if people get the time to try it out there'll be a debugged and easy to install version soon.

I haven't done any work on it myself, completely forgot about it tbh, I'll take a look at it in the next week, I think all that had to be done was redoing the sanitation that was lost when I ripped it from my original code and putting it into the snitz design so it shouldn't be a massive job and the code should already work so if anyone else wants to do it they're more than welcome and i'll repost the unfinished files.<
