I've been getting a lot of pending ".ru" members lately. Now it's fairly obvious that it's done by a bot with a bogus email address. I get the bounce notice, go look at the pending members profile and sure enough, every field is spammed with a hinky url and IM stuff is filled in.

So you delete the pending member. Nope, you'll be doing it again soon when the bot comes back.

So, I manually activate them. Squash thier profile - remove all links and IM stuff, set allow emails to no, and lock them. Now the bot comes back and the email and user name are in use -- Bye Bye, I don't have to deal with it again.

Sooooo how about a "crush member" mod. Hit one button and everything above gets done. Woooosh!

That would be cool. Except I have no idea where to begin.

How about the one's that manually sign up, then wait to use a bot to spam the forum for thier clients.

Like the one I went through all of the above for today.

This link was in every field in thier profile...

htt#://seo-promotion.org/product2.htm

They would have been back for thier "clients".

Would have loved to click once and have it all done.

By definition, bots can't 'manually' sign up. People can, but no spammer has that much time on their hands - this stuff is all automated.
