I posted this in ForumCo's support forum, but thought it might also raise a smile here...
- Ability to post a video within a topic.
- user definable poster frame
- Support for widths up to 480 (widescreen)
- An option for the user to enter how large (textMB) the movie is - ever sat there just waiting for a movie to load? Wondering if it ever will?
- a link to your local PCs file associations (if one player is proving troublesome, or is set wrong, the user can try another)
- Sub-forums
- the ability for the administrator to name the sub-forums box
- the ability for a user to set his first post as a sticky
- the ability to switch on/off the regular forums or sub-forums within a category thus leaving only forums or sub-forums running - I've seen forums with both running and it can be a little confusing
- Auto-moderation
- the first poster (creating a sub-forum) automatically becomes a local moderator
- the ability of the user to change the background color to complement the movie / other images they post
That'll keep you all busy.

"a link to your local PCs file associations"
Now i think about it that's kind of useless if you have no way of seeing what the troublesome file suffix is anyway. So, uh...

Everything with the video is actually very simple. If you take the uploads to your own server, you already know the size. If they give you a URL, use the XML component to request the file and get the size. Poster is as simple as adding a field for uploading along with the movie. It depends on the level of hosting of your forum if you have all the pieces you need.
Here's a shot of an attachment on my forum.

Thanks Gary. That looks cool.
But what I had in mind was something more along the lines of www.break.com. There's already a bunch of guys here working on that, and I'm looking forward to seeing ForumCo (who host my current forum) give it a go. In my field, filmaking, it'll be extremely useful.
The other features would make it a killer!
And I can add one more:
- Allowing forum admins to upload a background picture rather than just a color, like the one here http://forums.afterdawn.com/ which is made up of lots of these:

I guss I misread, because I could've sworn that your first point was about sizing and poster framing an attached video. If you already have it, then why put it in a "dream forum" post?< |

Because it's not there yet, and is still being shaped, and I thought other folk would be interested / amused in what an 'end user' (me ) thought was important to him.
In addition I thought it might prompt some other 'my dream forum' posts. < |
