I had got busy and then forgot about it, and now I am busy again. I will see what I can do about releasing the code.

I need to get all the right files sorted and then do the install procedure to make it easy for all.<

Cheers,

OK, I finally got off my rear end and put it all together and the Classifieds Mod can be downloaded from: Classifieds Mod 3.6

There is a html or a text file readme in the zip file. Will put it up at SnitzBitz soon. All questions need to be put in the Help: MOD Implementation are or there will be no response from me.<

Cheers,

I downloaded and installed this mod.
This was a bit scary though
(...)
Database setup finished

At this point I was not sure what was exactly finished. Maybe a little note in the instructions addressing this might be in order? By the way, the instructions were very well written. Your's was the first mod I installed and it really went over easily.

Thank you very much.

Mod output messages removed by ruirib: no point in showing messages stating mod installation went ok and that are similar to all other mods

ok, I uploaded and modified everything! It works GREAT! Only one thing wrong. When I added this code %> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="/forum/classified_5.asp"--><% to my inc_site_left.asp file. I get an error stating that the code does not contain a closing tag (<%) any thoughts?

Simply remove the %> and the <% from the code for this page and it should work.

Just a quick question here. The output was removed from message and then it was said, in effect, that mod installation went ok. The first part that was removed was, to me, an indication that something was not found which could imply some sort of error that the install recovered from. The rest of the message showed that database tables were created.

Dear ruirub, you say such things are common. So, am I to expect that any mod that gets installed is going to go through the same scenario? That is, show errors of things not found and then create tables ok.

Thanks for any input.

To mdelcour2000: Be very carefull when you update the files you have on the server. The instructions are well written but it is rather tedious work and, if you're anything like me and need new glasses, can be prone to error.

Good luck and take care.

Yes, all mods that change the database go through basically the same steps. If an error happens, mod setup states clearly that an error ocurred and gives advice on what to do!<

Update: Found the following link in this forum:

http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=60842&SearchTerms=recipe,mod

It appears that something was wrong there (similar messages).

So, I guess the question is if I should worry about those initial messages or not? Is the mod safe to run as is or ...????

Any input is appreciated.

Thank you.

Would you care to do me the favor of pointing out the errors and where in the messages they are shown as errors?<

Thank for the rapid reply. Let me pull a rabbit out of my hat....

Snitz Forum Modifications

It's the dropping part that I worry about. I assume the creation of the table was ok. But, I'm from the old school and the only bug that's a good bug is a dead bug, where computer software is concerned.

Also, some of these mods that are appearing were written quite a while ago and some of the discussion threads just ended - like a year or two ago. Do you happen to know which are the good, the bad and the ugly? I literally spent a few days going over these forums, and not a few minutes either, but hours.

If I might make a suggestion, in a premature fashion, is it possible to have a download section for people to simply go to and download the mods. Sort of a snitz-mod pod.

Hope you have a sense of humor.

Thank you very much. Any assistance is appreciated.

So, humor me, dropping a table and not being able to do it because it does not exist, in that old school of yours, is something that one should be concerned about? I understand the seriousness of the situation - you wanted to remove something and you end up worried because it does not exist, the final result being the same - the table is gone?

I'm picky enough to point out that I asked you
quote:

(...) and where in the messages they are shown as errors?

I suppose that the fact that you didn't reply to this part was a simple oversight and had nothing to do with the old school you come from, or am I wrong?

Finally, and begging your patience with someone who is obviously not from "that old school", is it a characteristic of the old school asking for advice on something, not replying in full to the person that helped you and questioning the help given?

I do need to know the answers to these questions to decide whether I should waste any more of my time replying to "old schoolers" once more. Old school or not, I do thank you for your patience in enduring this grueling questionnaire from a "non old school" guy.

I'm looking forward to an exhibition of your own sense of humor. Hope you're happy enough with mine.<
