Hi people,

This post really is going to mark me out as the "newboy" but then again, that's what I am!

I was asked to do a forum for a mate and have only 3 days to get it up and running.

I've got the system installed on a Brinkster server (reading some posts that might not be a going thing?) and it seems to be running fine. My only issue is that at some stages, notable during registration, there is an email address to contact in case of problems. I'd like to change that to be mine as "admin @ yourdomain.com", as helpful as it maybe, isn't what I 'm after.

I'm a complete novice with ASP- this being the first time that I've touched it. I've had a look in the register.asp file and a few others, but rather that there being a part saying "admin @ yourdomain.com", there are just what look like links to part of the db? From that point on I'm pretty much into the realm on the unknown!

Can someone tell me how to change that and similar information.

Thanx

Jamez

To change the contact e-mail, Login as Admin, then click on "Administrator options", then on "Main Forum Configuration". There you can change the e-mail address.

Also, you may want to know that my problems with Brinkster seem to be over. They did transfer my forum to another of their servers, and since then it runs smooth and fast. According to the Brinkster Support folks, the problem I had was likely related to other cusomers in the same server using poor or questionable code in their programs.

AFAIK, if you`re using the free service of Brinkster, the mail options wouldn`t work.
The doesn`t support sending mails with that.

OK, feeling really silly now!

I went to the main forum options, but the only ones that I see are to change:

Forum Title, Forum's Copyright, Title image location, Home URL, Forum URL, Authorization type, Set cookie to, Use graphics as buttons and Use graphic for "powered by" link.

No option there to change email!!!

I'm aware that the in forum email won't work with the free Brinkster service, but it's just the address on the registration page that I want to change... I've checked it and that link does work.

Thanx for the help, but where next?

Jamez
