I just had a daydream. Could snitz be distributed like Napster except that we distribute News Threads instead of MP3's? It seems like this could be powerful. Would sharing news threads even be useful?
I was also thinking that if you could link a bunch of Snitz forums together in different countries, and each one having its own language, that you could do a distributed mirror of the same forums and threads in different languages... and they would all stay updated. Each node, when it receives a thread reply, could send the reply out to the other servers in the 'registered group' and the language could be translated either by the Snitz node (when it receives the thread in another language) or by a "root" translator server that distributes the thread out to the other servers pre-translated.
I think the hard part here would be handling the versioning. Mabye, if the threads in this system used some strict standard of storing them, then you could do some kind of check to repair and identify a thread in the system?
Just an idea.
