A few days ago I attempted to delete some posts from a spammer. I used a mod I installed years ago to delete all posts from a user. I messed up and clicked the wrong button and instead deleted all posts in a forum.

I had my host restore my files from the day before this happened to have the original database back. I have since tried to connect the config.asp file to the database but it will not work. I get a 500 Error Page.

What is weird is that I also have a script on the homepage of my website that shows the top 10 posts. Those posts show up in the script.

Any idea of what I am doing wrong?

You need to get rid of the generic 500 error display (or ask your host to disable it temporarily) so that we can determine the actual error

Got it. Here is the error:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Operation must use an updateable query.

/forum/inc_func_common.asp, line 223

That line is:

my_conn.execute (strSql)
