hmm very odd with the discrepancy. Looking at the sql statements for the 2 sections, i can't tell why right now. I'll look at this at the beginning of next month when there's less data to deal with to see what's up with it. Got my hands full right now.

Another thing I've noticed Alan is that older days will keep incrementing. I've only been tracking one particular day, but as of now, for the past two days, I've seen it's number increase. Maybe that means something's wrong with the daily reports?

Further information validated... Here's some snapshots from two different dates. You can see how older dates are increasing even though those days are over...

Ok, first of the month. Here's an update... Day one being nearly complete, both totals are the same. The total for July 1 is equal to the total for the month of July. No discrepancy yet. Will post updates tomorrow as well.

Morning update:

* As stated, both items were at 118 posts at the close of the day on the 1st.

* This morning I'm showing 8 new posts on the 2nd. The # posts for the 1st has somehow incremented from 118 to 121 on it's own, and these extra posts are not accounted for in the monthly total (126).

* Note that 118 (original tally for the 1st) and 8 (early morning total for the 2nd) total 126.

Has anyone noticed that the post statistics seem to be inaccurate? If you look at the # posts per day...then you look at the # posts for this month (June), you'll see a discrepancy. The total doesn't add up to as much as the individual days put together. I've checked a number of different sites, and everyone's is off.

The topic count, btw, seems to be right on the nose... Thoughts?

Hey Dayve, none of your graphing links are working (txt or zip)...can you put these back up? I'd like to use this code! As well, any word on implementing the graphing for the other stats page? Thanks...

As far I have observed this is happening because of the innerjoin is being used in the query and use of OR in the WHERE criteria, Which looks for the date (T_DATE in TOPIC) topic is started and date (R_DATE in REPLY) the replies are posted. If the T_DATE falls in the same month it gets the post count from the Topic table and display all the posts for that topic as post count for the date the topic is posted.
Whenever a new reply is added to that particular Topic the number of posts will go up.

All post counts are also shown as posts on individual dates as fetched from the Reply table, which is correct count for the respective dates.

I think, When we just want to count the number of replies for a particular date it can be fetched from Forum_Replies table alone with the where criteria of date.

Though the number of Topics and posts is very low but I am using SQL without any innerjoin and I have no mismatch.

This is Original Sql

'strSqlPosts = "SELECT COUNT(REPLY_ID) AS PostCount FROM " & strTablePrefix & "TOPICS INNER JOIN " & strTablePrefix & "REPLY ON " & strTablePrefix & "TOPICS.TOPIC_ID = " & strTablePrefix & "REPLY.TOPIC_ID WHERE T_DATE LIKE '" & intYear & strMonth & "%' OR R_DATE LIKE '" & intYear & strMonth & "%'"

I use the below noted sql

strSqlPosts = "SELECT COUNT(REPLY_ID) AS PostCount FROM " & strTablePrefix & "REPLY WHERE R_DATE LIKE '" & intYear & strMonth & "%'"

Hi GauravBhabu,

Thanks for the post. I implemented this, and will see what happens. My first take on it is that it's not going to be the right fix... But I've been wrong before!

The reason I say this is because I have both the original (statistics2.asp) and your file (statistics3.asp) set up, and the daily numbers are the same. The monthly counts, however, are now different.

If you look at my original posts, in the statistics2.asp file the daily numbers will increment long after a particular day has passed. Since your (statistics3.asp) file is showing the same number of daily posts, I'm guessing that it's incrementing just like the statistics2.asp file.

The monthly numbers in your file (3) are lower than the monthly numbers in the original file (2). As well, if you add up the daily totals from each day in your (3) file, it does not correlate with the monthly total.

Here are the outputs I reference above...

http://www.jeepaholics.com/citizensband/forum/statistics2.asp (original)
http://www.jeepaholics.com/citizensband/forum/statistics3.asp (your new one)

Any thoughts?

The statistics2.asp, which I have on the Zip won't display the way you have. Look at the display at my site. It seems to me you renamed your own statistics2.asp to statistics3.asp.

Nope, statistics2 is the original. Statistics3 is the original with your changes above included. I can't get to your website, btw...

I had IIS Problems. Its okay now. Look how the statistics are displayed on my site. You need to download and use the statistics2.asp from my site.

The statistics3.asp file is not what I have as statistics2.asp in the zip.

Dayve, any chance of getting links to your statistic files with the bar graphs? After seeing the graphic version, the text version is too boring.

Hey Gauravbhabu...

Finally got around to downloading your version and it seems to have done the trick! Thanks for the new files...I had to make some chanaged to where the include files were and some of the icon's...I assume you had it modified to work with v3.3 (haven't upgraded yet).

Anyway, seems to be working great - thanks again!
