I was just wondering if all the mods used currently are going to be compatible with the soon-to-be-release newer version of the forum?
Also, I'm developing my forum (adding mods, etc.) using an Access db, and I'm going to convert it to an SQL 2k db once I'm done. Should I wait until the newer version of the forum is release until I convert to SQL 2k or would it really matter?
it doesn't realy matter... except for your mods... the new version is going to be changing some fundamental ideas in the forums... and doing some deep threaded mods (Archiving and Moderation both optional at the admin level) and then the next version is going to be another HUGE addition... being the long awaited "Internationalization" which is going to touch literaly every file in the code extensively. Replacing all text with translation functions.
At the same time, we will be incorporating small bugfixes as we go... tweaking the user interface and such.
If your a MOD Developer, you can follow this development... and make changes to your MOD's as we go... or you can just wait till it's done and integrate your MODs at that point... probably less work the second way!
NOTE: All default forums are fully upgradeable via the setup script! so if you set up in MS SQL Server 2k now... you can upgrade your base forum out of the box!
