I want to use a product like this on websites that I'm developing. Some are my own and others may be donated by me or built and managed for a fee.

Discussion groups are NOT the main reason for the site but a 'nice to have' and this one comes highly recommended.

May I use it in this way ... and if so, how do I neatly embed it into a FrontPage web site ?

Please put this in the most apprpriate place.

I too am new to this product; I appear to have it working correctly after getting my head around some of the issues.

I have it remotely hosted on a W2K server with FP extensions, IIS5 and ASP supported. Fortunately, I am able to enable database permissions (DSN if needed) remotely with my host. I used the database provided with the product.

The bulk of my site was created with FP2K - experience has now shown me, this presented a few potential problems:
1. FP2K messes up some of the Snitz code - even if you move Snitz files around in FP; and you must edit Snitz files using a text editor, eg. Notepad,
2. Snitz can't be uploaded with FP - it seems you MUST use FTP or the Snitz files become damaged, and
3. Uploading with FTP messes up FP extensions (easily fixed for me though).

Once I edited the Snitz config.asp file (the main thing here is knowing the virtual path to the DB - no biggie) all the files were uploaded into their respective directories/sub-directories (explained in the readme.txt file); I then needed to fix/instal FP extensions and give permissions to the DB.

I found if the FP extensions need to be repaired I also needed to grant DB permissions again also.

As FP2K lists all the files as part of it's "web" and tries/will change the Snitz stuff - I marked all the Snitz files seen in FP2K as "Do Not Publish". I have kept the source Snitz files separately.

It looks like a good product and is extremely and easily configureable - once it's setup correctly. The support here is excellent also.

I hope this has been of some help.
