Ok, this has probably been posted before ( I looked and could not find an answer to my question ) but please bare with me.

This happens fairly randomly and I cannot duplicate it all the time.

Here's the situation:
I visit my forum, and there are X number of new posts. I make a reply, and go back the the top level of that forum to view the other topics. (sometimes) Now ALL topics are marked as new! ACK!

Any clues as to why/how this happens and what I can do to fix it?

Probably your session timed out. The default IIS timeout is 20 minutes, if you visit a post, get coffee, and spend more than 20 mins getting your reply written, your session times out and you see this problem.

I've encountered that problem too. It isn't the session timing out. It usually happens after a post.

I noticed it both here and on my own forums. It seems to flip back after continue browing a forum.
