My forum is growing very quickly and the database behind it is now over 35MB I need to reduce it's size due to a lack of server space available. What is the best way to compact the database?

are we talking about an access db ?

if so, I can send you a script which will compact it, However, if you have an access97 DB, it will convert it to 2000, which may therfore not reduce the size.

i believe it is converted to access 2000 after my last upgrade. strange thing happening which i thought was related to running out of space, but may not be. virtually all the forum is working except for being able to make new posts. any idea

its at JJ72.org/talk

The problem would appear to be either your post.asp, or post_info.asp, since I was able to send a PM it maybe the number of replies/topics is too large for access, not sure, but it doesn't appear to be lack of space since you can still register and send PM's.

It is a either a problem with reply or topis table, or a problem with the posting code.

No problem, glad your back in business. Nice site by the way, it is pretty quick despite the large number of posts in your db.
