| My forum is growing very quickly and the database behind it is now over 35MB I need to reduce it's size due to a lack of server space available. What is the best way to compact the database? |

are we talking about an access db ?
if so, I can send you a script which will compact it, However, if you have an access97 DB, it will convert it to 2000, which may therfore not reduce the size.

i believe it is converted to access 2000 after my last upgrade. strange thing happening which i thought was related to running out of space, but may not be. virtually all the forum is working except for being able to make new posts. any idea

| no, it was working fine up until about two hours ago, when it started doing this. i checked my server space which was full so removed several large files but the same problem keeps happening |

The problem would appear to be either your post.asp, or post_info.asp, since I was able to send a PM it maybe the number of replies/topics is too large for access, not sure, but it doesn't appear to be lack of space since you can still register and send PM's.
It is a either a problem with reply or topis table, or a problem with the posting code.

i reuploaded fresh versions of post.asp and post_info.asp to no avail. i then reuploaded all the forum files and voila it's back up and running. thanks for your help
