I'm new to Snitz as well but I can help on a few of your questions.
Ranking: That's up to you. It determins what color star and what title you want them to have when they reach a predetermined # of posts in your forum. You set the # values, star color and the title you want them to have.
Moderators: One you have a registered member, go to the members link in the upper right corner to show all members. Hit the edit pencil next to their name. you'll see a drop down box that has the levels of access. click on Moderator or Administrator. [edit to add] Once you have designated them a Mod, go to your Admin Options/Moderators and designate which catagory they'll be a Mod for.
Banning: you can't actually ban a member in Snitz but you can lock them out. Follow the instructions above to get to members list. Hit the padlock to lock a paticular member out. In the Email Server Configuration, check the yes box for unique Email address and whoever you lock out will have to get a new Email addy to reregister. That's as good as it gets with this software.
As far as setting up Snitz, the only setup you need to do is edit the config.asp file as to what database type you'll be using and the path to find it. Instructions are in the file. Place it in notepad and you'll be able to edit. Upload all the Snitz files to your server of choice and that's it. All the other settings like colors, catagory titles etc. are done in the forum.
Hope this helps.
