For the next release, is it going to be first released to the public as a beta or are you waiting to release it as a 3.3 production version?

Correct me if I'm wrong! I think (& hope) it will be a full official release. The beta is on a public test for two weeks.

I hope so also, but we've encountered some "bugs" with the moderation functions. Mostly has to do with defining what is what (when is a topic counted, when is it visible, can be edited etc.) Adding two extra statuslevels for a topic was/is complex.

When will you guys eliminate the placing of the Forum Title & Topic Title in the querystring? (Don't say it can't be done.)

Are there any changes to the database between the alpha 6 of 3.2 and v3.3? If not, I might go ahead and get the alpha running and then just replace it with v3.3 final.

Heh heh. Darnit! Can you tell I'm anxious to re-do my forum? Actually its not just the forum; I'm also going to rebuild my entire web site around the forum, and I want to use the latest new and improved Snitz when I do it (running a modified HUWR-ized Snitz 3.1 SP4 right now!)

It seems good. So many additional functions. Do you have any plan to allow members hide somthing when they are queried by a stranger? It help an administer to know more about his members but not afraid that they are exposed in public.

Out of curiosity, with all the new moderation options implemented, is there a feature that allows an admin/moderator to post new topics where regular users can only reply to them?
Essentially keeps regular users from posting new topics, but allows them to reply to topics posted by admins/moderators...

Yes, and no. No, but something close to it. You can set what is moderated, so you can decide that all posts are moderated, only replies are moderated or only new posts are moderated. So if you don't want members to reply, simply moderate the replies, if you don't want them to start new topics without you approving them first but don't want to moderate all the replies to it, just select to moderate new topics.

I'm curious. I'm new to Snitz so naturally have the 3.1 sr4 version. I've added quite a few of the fine Mods but not having gone through an upgrad, was wondering the procedure you all use. Do I have to reinstall all the Mods again? Am I able just to load the upgraded files? Will the Mods work with this new upgrade? Does the upgrade load the way commercial software upgrades do, not disturbing current settings?
I know, lots of questions but I would be grateful for any explanations. Thanks Guys and Guyises.

Yes. But with the current version some of the members have provided their version with all the mods installed for download. That probably will happen with the next version also. If anyone has done that by that time, and doesn't want to put the files on their own server, send them to me and we'll put them here on the server.

No, you do save your settings, users, posts etc. though. A script updates the database for you.

Will the Mods work with this new upgrade?
Not all, at least not without modification. Since a lot of them need code added in specific places, the exact location where you need to add the code will probably change for some of the pages. Most of the time we've seen that MODs got updated resonable soon after a major new release. All the info that the mods store in the database will be untouched.

No settings will be lost, no data will be lost, all the database-changes will be made for you by the script. I've seen commercial Asp-scripts that didn't do that for you

You're welcome

This will be done step by step depending on if it takes an extra recordset or not, for default.asp / forum.asp / topic.asp you don't need an extra recordset so that was "easy". Check out http://forum.snitz.com/beta/v33/
