I've recently installed the forum on my server, as far as I can tell I have all the strings set up in config.asp but when i try to open the server I get an error 500. The odd thing is, I tried converting the access97 database to an access2000 database before uploading, and then i don't get the error, it loads up into the forum, but like half the options aren't there, i can't login and the tables for the forum listings are all screwed up. Could the server i'm uploading possibly be running the wrong version of MDAC. I know they use access2000 for the odbc, but as far as I knew access97 databases should be able to be read in access2000. Any thoughts?

Hi, some specifics on the error would be helpful. If you're using Internet Explorer 5, you should be able to get more information by going to the menu Tools - Internet Options - Advanced Options and unchecking the 'show friendly HTTP error messages'
The current version of MDAC is 2.6. In my experience, any 2.1+ version of MDAC works pretty well on either Acc97 or A2K .mdb files

What connection string are you using?
Often this kind of error is related to a permissions problem to the database file.
You can try using the other access driver in your connection string.

I've already tried both the access2000 driver strings, and i get the same problem with both. I've spoken with my web host and the data directory i have the database in is supposed to have read and write access

Is the database actually in 2000 format? If you're using the one from the tools zip, it is in 97 format, regardless of what it is called.
I did have a problem with my provider and I had to convert it to 2000 format and it worked fine....

well i did convert it to a 2000 format, but then like half the features weren't on my main page, the login option wasn't there, the forums didn't have the columns dividing them, the snitz forum logo up in the top left wasn't there, it was odd, maybe i just didn't upload something right, i'll give it another go, see if i by chance missed something obvious

i've doublechecked and i've got everything uploaded, i'm just not sure why it's doing this, do I need to do something in the setup.asp?
