You're welcome. Now to fix most of the other issues, you need to be signed in as the forum administrator. Then go to the admin panel, "Main Forum Configuration". There you'll have to set the path to "localhost/forum" (or whatever you've called the directory). Most of those issues should disappear after that.

Thanks again, Carefree. I have already done that, but no joy so far. Will persevere and hopefully get to the end of this.....

Hmmmm. I managed to install it also in the Windows 8 computer, and there I can see the error:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Operation must use an updateable query.

/forum/inc_func_common.asp, line 665

I have a modded version of inc_functions (which worked flawlessly for many years), but if I use the original file I get the same error but in line 597. In both cases, the ASP Code is.

665 my_conn.Execute (strSql),,adCmdText + adExecuteNoRecords

Any ideas?

It looks like something similar to this ...

http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=70418&SearchTerms=80004005

There falkor wrote: "It then occured to me that there might be some NTFS security issues with the files. Sure enough that was it and it's now working with all replies displayed!" Unfortunately I don't know what falkor did to fix the problem.

Sorry for the time this is taking, but I think this is almost resolved by now ....

OK, finally! It seems like the database permissions was the problem. By giving full permissions the forum is finally displaying. Thanks for all your help.
