Is there a means of resetting members' points back to zero?

I would have thought that would have been an option in "Admin Options" so when one contest ends members' points could be reset before another contest begins.

At this time there is no need for my members to save their points as I am not offering anything for them to purchase.

I also meant to ask how to know the number of points received when a member changes ranks?

In answer to your first question. "No."

However, it would be handy, so I wrote it.

"admin_points.asp"

Look for the following lines (appx 102-103):

      "<input type=submit value=""Change"">" & VbNewLine &_
      "</form>" & VbNewLine & _

Below those, insert this:

      "<a href=""admin_points.asp?mode=reset""><font face=""" & strDefaultFontFace & """ size=""" & strDefaultFontSize & """>Reset Points For All Members</font></a>" & VbNewLine & _

Next, look for the following lines (appx 44-47):

If Session(strCookieURL & "Approval") <> "15916941253" Then
	scriptname = split(Request.ServerVariables("SCRIPT_NAME"),"/")
	Response.Redirect "admin_login.asp?target=" & scriptname(UBound(scriptname))
End If

Below those, insert these:

If Request("mode")="reset" Then
	strSql="UPDATE " & strMemberTablePrefix & "MEMBERS SET M_POINTS=0 WHERE M_STATUS=1"
	my_Conn.Execute (strSql),,adCmdText + adExecuteNoRecords
	Response.Write "<p align=""center""><font face=""" & strDefaultFontFace & """ size=""" & strHeaderFontSize & """>Points have been reset." & NewVal & "</font></p>" & VbNewLine & _
		"<p align=""center""><font face=""" & strDefaultFontFace & """ size=""" & strDefaultFontSize & """><a href=""admin_home.asp"">Back To Admin Home</font></a></p>" & VbNewLine & _
		"<meta http-equiv=""Refresh"" content=""2; URL=admin_points.asp"">" & VbNewLine
	WriteFooter
	Response.End
End If

In answer to your second question, none. The author didn't finish that feature. To enable it, add an item to "point actions". The code must be LVU (Level Up), the amounts, etc. are up to you.

Now, that made my heart sink! (lol)

Thank you so much for this little "fix" to enable resetting the members' points, Carefree!

It worked PERFECT!

YEA!!

You are definitely worth your weight in gold and so much more!

Sunday December 22 will mark the 15th year of me being cancer-free (praise God!) and I have decided to celebrate that day by starting a "Grand Opening Celebration" and because of the holidays possibly interfering with member participation, I am going to allow it to last until midnight on January 31. This will be a time of a lot of contests, games and just a lot of fun! You have obviously helped tremendously in making that possible with your work in this area and many other areas as well!

I have a few more things to accomplish before Sunday but I want to thank you for ALL of your help, Carefree! [hugs] You are truly a Snitz guru and Sooo very, very appreciated!! You definitely have a gift for getting down on a "newbie's" level in helping even the least of us understand your tutorials (such easy instructions!) and just EVERYTHING you do whether in the many mods you authored or just here on the Snitz forums! I Really, REALLY love your work, Carefree. . .and appreciate you even more!!

And to anyone else who might be reading this that has helped me in the past, too, a huge THANK YOU to you as well!

It is true that our friend Carefree done wonders with the code model and solve many of our problems. We are not programmers and asp, if there is one thing missing that does not work.
A big thank you to Carefree and I wish him a happy holiday season, especially health.

Cordially,
Maxime
